Quick Answer

An online MBA in supply chain management is a two-year MBA whose second year covers procurement, inventory, warehousing, transport, demand forecasting and global logistics. Among our partners, LPU, Chandigarh University, UPES and GLA run a named logistics or supply chain track, ARKA JAIN and NMIMS combine it with operations, and Amity offers it only as one subject. Fees we checked on 6 November 2026 start near ₹1 lakh.

Key Highlights

  • An online MBA supply chain track is a full MBA, not a certificate: the first year is the common management core, and the logistics and supply chain subjects arrive in semesters three and four.
  • UPES publishes the most logistics-heavy subject list we found, with six supply chain subjects including International Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Lean Supply Chain Management, and Supply Chain Modelling and Simulation.
  • Chandigarh University is the only partner whose official electives name last-mile delivery and quick commerce, alongside AI-enabled demand forecasting and supply chain analytics.
  • Amity University Online does not list a dedicated supply chain specialization on its online MBA page; its nearest option is Production and Operations Management, which carries one Supply Chain Management subject.
  • None of the official pages we checked names a port, shipping or maritime logistics subject. International logistics and global supply chain subjects are the closest you will get online.

What is an online MBA in supply chain management?

It is a regular two-year MBA, delivered online, in which you choose logistics and supply chain management as your specialization. You study the same management core as every other MBA student in year one, then spend most of year two on how goods are sourced, stored, moved and planned.

A supply chain is every step between a raw material and a customer: buying from suppliers, holding stock, running warehouses, moving goods by road, rail, sea or air, and forecasting how much will be needed next month. An MBA in supply chain management teaches you to manage those steps as one system, so a decision in purchasing does not create a problem in the warehouse or a stock-out at the store.

The degree on your certificate is a Master of Business Administration. Under the UGC Specification of Degrees of 2014, the MBA is a master’s degree with a minimum duration of two years. The specialization describes your electives; it does not create a different degree.

Is “MBA in logistics and supply chain management” the same thing?

For practical purposes, yes. LPU, Chandigarh University and UPES all title their track “Logistics and Supply Chain Management”. GLA calls it “Supply Chain Management”, and NMIMS uses “Operations and Supply Chain Management” for its working executive MBA. “Logistics” usually points to the physical side (transport, warehousing, distribution), while “supply chain” also includes sourcing, supplier relationships and planning. Every curriculum we checked covers both, so read the subject list rather than the title.

What about an MBA in supply chain management through distance education?

Distance (ODL) and online are two separate modes under the UGC online regulations of 2020. Online programmes are taught and examined through technology-enabled platforms, while ODL relies on printed or digital self-learning material with exams at physical centres. This article covers online programmes only. If you are weighing the two modes, our comparison of online MBA vs distance MBA sets out the differences that matter.

Which universities offer an online MBA in logistics and supply chain management?

Four of our partner universities run a named logistics or supply chain track, two combine it with operations, two Manipal universities market a supply chain option we could not fully check, and Amity offers supply chain only as a subject inside operations. We checked every official page on 6 November 2026.

A note on the two Manipal universities. Onlinemanipal.com hosts a page titled “Online MBA Supply Chain Management”, but it did not load for our check on 6 November 2026, so we have not reproduced its subjects or fee. In our October 2026 review, Sikkim Manipal listed Operations and Supply Chain Management as one half of its dual specialization MBA, with Operation and Logistics Management and Supply Chain Management as the subjects. Ask each university for the current syllabus and compare their wider range on our Manipal University Jaipur and Sikkim Manipal University profiles.

A note on Amity. Some comparison sites describe an Amity online MBA in supply chain management. On 6 November 2026, the specializations linked from Amity’s own online MBA page were General Management, Finance and Accounting, Marketing and Sales, HR, IT Management, International Business, Production and Operations, Retail, Project Management, Business Analytics, Data Science, Digital Marketing, Hospital and Healthcare, Construction Project Management, Entrepreneurship and Leadership, International Finance, Working Women and a dual specialization. Supply chain was not one of them. If an adviser tells you otherwise, ask for the official page link.

What subjects are in an MBA in logistics and supply chain management?

Expect four to six supply chain subjects in the second year, covering some mix of procurement, inventory, warehousing, transport, demand planning, global logistics and analytics. The first-year core (accounting, economics, marketing, finance, HR, statistics, operations) is much the same at every university. Here is what each official page lists for the specialization.

UPES: the most logistics-heavy list

UPES publishes a full four-semester structure. Operations Management appears in semester one and Project Management and Business Analytics for Managers in semester two. The specialization subjects are:

  • Semester 3: Introduction to Logistics and Supply Chain Management, International Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Supplier Relationship Management, Lean Supply Chain Management, and International Finance and Risk Management.
  • Semester 4: Logistics Planning and Strategy, Supply Chain Modelling and Simulation, Strategic Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and a Dissertation.

That is six subjects named for logistics or supply chain, plus an international finance paper that fits trade-heavy roles. The modelling and simulation paper is the most quantitative supply chain subject in this comparison. UPES’s eligibility is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50%, or 45% with at least two years of work experience, and CA, CS and ICWA holders are eligible.

Chandigarh University: last-mile, quick commerce and AI forecasting

CU publishes a 108-credit structure that includes 20 credits of Harvard ManageMentor short courses. Operations and Quality Management is a semester-two core subject. The LSCM electives are:

  • Semester 3: Logistics Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Quality Management and Quality Techniques, and either Quantitative Techniques for Management or AI-enabled Demand Forecasting and Supply Chain Analytics. The page’s two subject tables differ on this fourth slot, so ask CU which one applies to your batch.
  • Semester 4: Smart Logistics, Last-Mile and Quick Commerce Operations, and Operations Management.

Semester four also carries Project Management, Values and Ethics, and Academic Research Writing as core subjects. CU’s list is the only one that names last-mile delivery and quick commerce, which makes it relevant if you work in e-commerce, grocery delivery or retail fulfilment. CU accepts a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, and CA and ICWA holders.

Lovely Professional University: tools named, subjects not

LPU’s page does not publish a semester-wise subject list for this track. It names in-demand skills in project management, inventory management, strategic supply chain management and logistics management. It mentions hands-on work with SAP and Tally ERP, emerging technologies such as IoT, Big Data, Digital Twins, RPA and Edge Computing, and inventory models such as EOQ, JIT and safety stock calculations. The page’s FAQ lists eligibility as a bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent, and LPU recommends 8 to 10 hours of study a week.

Because the subject names and credits are missing from the public page, request the detailed syllabus before you apply. You can see LPU’s other programmes on our LPU Online profile.

GLA University: broad topics, no subject list

GLA has a dedicated supply chain specialization page, but it does not list the subjects. It says the programme covers procurement, warehousing, demand planning, international trade and distribution networks, along with smart logistics, digital supply chains, blockchain in trade and e-commerce-driven supply chain models. Eligibility is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university, and the programme runs over two years in four semesters.

The topic list is promising, but you cannot judge depth without subject names and credits. Ask GLA for the syllabus. More on GLA is on our GLA University profile.

ARKA JAIN University: operations and supply chain in one block

ARKA JAIN publishes a complete subject list. Its third semester is titled “Operations and Supply Chain Management Specialization” and its fourth “Advanced Operations and SCM”:

  • Semester 3: Business Research Methods, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Distribution Management, Procurement and Inventory Management, and an open elective in Lean Operations and Quality Management.
  • Semester 4: Global Supply Chain Management, Warehouse and Distribution Management, Demand Forecasting and Inventory Analytics, Strategic Operations Management, a cross course in Business Analytics for Operations, and a Project or Research component.

This is the most balanced mix of the physical side (warehousing, distribution) and the planning side (forecasting, inventory analytics) in our comparison. Eligibility is a three-year bachelor’s degree with 50%, or 45% for reserved categories, and final-year students may apply. See our ARKA JAIN University profile for its other programmes.

NMIMS: two routes, one for experienced professionals

NMIMS has no supply chain track in its regular online MBA. Its MBA (Operations and Data Sciences) offers seven electives, of which you take four in semester three and three in semester four: Operation Analytics, Project Management, Total Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, EDA and Data Visualisation, Strategic Sourcing and E-procurement, and Strategic Applications of IoT and Big Data.

The second route is the MBA Working Executive in Operations and Supply Chain Management, which runs over eight terms in 24 months. Its electives across terms three to five are Supply Chain Management, Service Operations Management, Supply Chain and Logistics Analytics, Total Quality Management, Procurement Management, Logistics Management and Project Management, followed by a capstone project and two terms of project or industry experience. It requires 55% at graduation (50% for SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates) and at least three years of work experience. If you are weighing it against other senior options, our guide to the online executive MBA explains how working executive formats differ.

Amity University Online: one subject inside operations

Amity’s Production and Operations Management MBA lists Supply Chain Management in semester three, alongside Capacity Planning and Management, Operations Planning, Scheduling and Control, Service Operations Management and Project Management. Semester four adds Operations Strategy, Manufacturing and Service Competitiveness, and Lean Sigma. There is no separate logistics, procurement or warehousing subject on the page. It is a sound operations programme, but it is not a supply chain specialization. Amity’s full range is on our Amity University Online profile.

“Not named separately” means the official page did not list a subject with that focus; the topic may still be taught inside another subject. GLA, MUJ and SMU are left out because their subject lists were not available to us.

What about port and maritime logistics?

No partner page we checked names a port, shipping or maritime logistics subject. If your work is in a port, a freight forwarder or a shipping line, the closest online subjects are UPES’s International Logistics and Supply Chain Management and ARKA JAIN’s Global Supply Chain Management. GLA’s page mentions international trade as a topic. Ask the university how much of the syllabus deals with ocean freight, customs and documentation before you assume it is covered.

How much does an online MBA in supply chain management cost?

The supply chain track usually costs the same as the university’s standard online MBA. On 6 November 2026, official pages showed totals from about ₹1 lakh at GLA and ARKA JAIN to ₹2.33 lakh list price at CU, with NMIMS’s working executive route far higher at ₹4 lakh or more.

Sikkim Manipal University₹1,20,000 for the online MBAFrom our October 2026 review; confirm for the dual specialization

Working through the numbers helps. At GLA, ₹97,000 tuition plus the ₹6,000 full exam fee plus ₹2,000 registration comes to ₹1,05,000 (our calculation), which matches its all-inclusive headline. At ARKA JAIN, four semesters at ₹25,000 is ₹1,00,000, and adding ₹2,500 registration and two years of ₹3,000 exam fees brings it to ₹1,08,500 (our calculation).

At LPU, four semesters at the ₹50,000 actual fee is ₹2,00,000; at the discounted ₹40,400 it is ₹1,61,600 (our calculation). LPU’s page showed an application deadline of 7 November 2026, the day after our check, so the offer may have changed by the time you read this. Ask in writing whether the grant applies to all four semesters.

At NMIMS, the per-semester route for Operations and Data Sciences adds up to ₹2,20,000 against ₹1,96,000 paid upfront, a gap of ₹24,000 (our calculation). For the working executive MBA, the two annual payments total ₹4,50,000 against ₹4,00,000 paid at once, a gap of ₹50,000 (our calculation).

Supply chain vs operations vs international business: which MBA should you choose?

Choose supply chain if your work is about moving and stocking goods across many companies: suppliers, warehouses, transporters and customers. Choose operations if your work is about running the processes inside one organisation: production, quality, capacity and service delivery. Choose international business if your work is about entering foreign markets, trade policy and cross-border deals rather than the physical flow of goods.

What about an MBA in operations and supply chain management?

ARKA JAIN and NMIMS’s working executive MBA combine the two, and Sikkim Manipal has done the same in its dual specialization. A combined track suits you if you work in a manufacturing or distribution business where production and logistics sit under one manager. The trade-off is depth: ARKA JAIN’s combined list still includes warehousing, forecasting and global supply chain subjects, but some combined tracks give each half only two subjects. Count the supply chain subjects before you decide.

What about project management?

Logistics work often runs as projects: a new warehouse, a transport tender, a system rollout. UPES, CU and NMIMS all include project management in their supply chain or operations structures. If projects are your main work rather than a side skill, a dedicated online MBA project management track may fit better.

Who should choose a supply chain MBA online?

It suits people already working in purchasing, warehousing, transport, distribution, planning or e-commerce operations who want to move from running one function to managing the whole flow. It suits a fresher less well unless you have a clear plan to enter a logistics, retail, manufacturing or e-commerce company.

People who tend to get the most from it:

  • Warehouse supervisors and inventory controllers who want to move into planning or distribution management.
  • Purchase executives and buyers who want to handle sourcing strategy, supplier contracts and negotiations.
  • Transport and fleet coordinators, freight forwarding staff and customs documentation staff who want a broader management role.
  • Demand planners and MIS analysts in FMCG, pharma or retail who want the management context behind their forecasts.
  • Engineers in manufacturing plants whose work increasingly touches materials, vendors and dispatch.
  • Family business owners in trading, distribution or manufacturing who want to professionalise how they buy and move stock.

A simple test: list the specialization subjects of the university you prefer and ask whether you will use at least half of them at work over the next two years. If most of your day is spent on production lines rather than suppliers and shipments, operations may serve you better.

Most learners in this specialization are already in full-time jobs. Our guide to the online MBA for working professionals covers how classes, assignments and proctored exams fit around a work week.

Can you do it without a logistics or commerce background?

Yes. Every university in this comparison accepts a bachelor’s degree in any discipline for its supply chain or operations track. The minimum marks vary:

UniversityMinimum marks at graduation, as on the official page
UPES50%, or 45% with at least two years of work experience; CA, CS and ICWA holders eligible
ARKA JAIN50%, or 45% for reserved categories; three-year bachelor’s degree
NMIMS (Operations and Data Sciences)50%, or 45% for SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates
NMIMS (Working Executive)55%, or 50% for SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates, plus three years of work experience
Chandigarh UniversityBachelor’s degree in any discipline; CA and ICWA holders eligible
LPUBachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent
GLABachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university
Amity (Production and Operations)40%; below 40% requires an admission test

If you have never worked with numbers, expect the forecasting, modelling and analytics subjects to take extra effort. UPES’s Supply Chain Modelling and Simulation, CU’s AI-enabled Demand Forecasting and ARKA JAIN’s Demand Forecasting and Inventory Analytics are where a non-quantitative learner is most likely to need additional practice.

What roles does an MBA in supply chain management prepare you for?

It prepares you for roles that plan, buy, store, move and track goods, and for roles that manage the people and partners who do that work. We do not quote salary or placement figures, because no official dataset covers online MBA graduates in this specialization.

The universities themselves list these roles on their supply chain pages:

  • UPES groups roles by level: Procurement Analyst, Logistics Coordinator, Supply Chain Analyst and Operations Analyst at entry level; Inventory Manager, Warehouse Manager, Transportation Manager, Purchasing Manager and Global Logistics Manager at mid level; and Supply Chain Senior Consultant and Global Logistics Head for experienced professionals.
  • ARKA JAIN lists Supply Chain Manager, Procurement Manager, Logistics Manager, Warehouse Operations Manager, Inventory Planning Manager, Demand Planning Analyst, Vendor Relationship Manager and Distribution Manager.
  • LPU lists Supply Chain Manager, Logistics Manager, Operations Manager, Procurement Manager, Inventory Control Manager, Distribution Manager and Supply Chain Analyst.
  • GLA lists Supply Chain Manager, Logistics Manager, Procurement Manager, Inventory Manager and Warehouse and Distribution Manager, with Supply Chain Director and Chief Supply Chain Officer described as roles that come with experience.
  • NMIMS lists Operations Manager, Global Logistics Manager and Supply Chain Consultant for its working executive route.

Read the senior titles as long-term directions, not outcomes of the degree. What you can realistically move into depends on your experience, your employer and your industry. A warehouse supervisor with six years at a third-party logistics company is far better placed to use this MBA for a move into distribution management than a fresher is to walk into a supply chain manager role.

Is an online MBA in supply chain management valid in India?

Yes, if the university is permitted to offer its online MBA for your admission session. The specialization does not change validity; the university’s UGC-DEB listing does. Regulation 22 of the UGC 2020 regulations treats degrees earned online from recognised institutions as equivalent to conventional degrees.

On the 2026-27 entitled list, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, MUJ, SMU, LPU, CU, NMIMS (including its MBA Working Executive) and UPES appear with an MBA, and GLA University’s row 115 includes an MBA. ARKA JAIN appears on the 2026-27 recognised list for an MBA (General). Since its supply chain option is a specialization within the MBA, ask ARKA JAIN to confirm in writing how it relates to the MBA listed with the UGC.

Two more checks matter. Every online learner needs a DEB-ID, created through the UGC-DEB student portal using your ABC ID. And under Regulation 16(2), the mode of delivery must be printed on the degree and mark sheets, so expect “online” to appear on them. Our guide to checking a UGC approved online MBA shows how to read the lists row by row.

How should you judge a supply chain curriculum before enrolling?

Score the specialization subjects against the supply chain functions you work in, then ask for the details the public pages leave out. A balanced supply chain curriculum for most learners covers procurement, inventory, warehousing and distribution, transport, demand planning and analytics, with a global logistics paper if you deal with imports or exports.

A practical way to compare:

  1. Write down the semester three and four supply chain subjects for each university on your shortlist.
  2. Mark which functions in the comparison table above each subject covers, and note the gaps.
  3. Ask whether the project or dissertation can use a real problem from your warehouse, plant or purchasing desk. UPES lists a Dissertation, ARKA JAIN a Project or Research component, and NMIMS a capstone plus industry experience terms.
  4. Ask whether software is part of the course. LPU names SAP and Tally ERP; ask the others whether any ERP, forecasting or simulation tool is provided through the LMS.
  5. Ask how analytics subjects are assessed: spreadsheet assignments, case analyses or written exams only.
  6. Check how exams are run. Under the UGC regulations, online exams are technology-enabled or proctored, so confirm the device and internet set-up you will need. Our guide to online MBA admission covers the documents and DEB-ID steps.

On published detail alone, UPES and ARKA JAIN give the clearest picture of a supply chain curriculum, CU the most current one for e-commerce, and LPU, GLA, MUJ and SMU need a syllabus request before you can judge them fairly.

Do you need an industry certification as well?

Not to enrol, and not to graduate. Professional bodies in supply chain and procurement run their own certifications with their own eligibility rules, exams and renewal requirements. If one interests you, read the eligibility page on the certifying body’s own website rather than a training provider’s summary, and check whether it expects work experience that you would gain during the MBA rather than before it.

What should you check before paying any fee?

Check the listing, the syllabus and the money, in that order.

  1. UGC-DEB status. Find the university’s row on the current entitled or recognised list for the session you are joining.
  2. Exact specialization name. Ask how it will appear on your mark sheets: “Logistics and Supply Chain Management”, “Supply Chain Management” and “Operations and Supply Chain Management” are all in use.
  3. Full syllabus. Especially at LPU, GLA, MUJ and SMU, where the public page did not show a subject list we could check.
  4. Elective choices. At CU, confirm whether you get Quantitative Techniques or AI-enabled Demand Forecasting in semester three. At NMIMS, confirm which electives fall in which term.
  5. Total cost in writing. Include registration, exam, project and processing fees, and whether a grant or scholarship applies to all four semesters.
  6. Offer dates. LPU’s application deadline was 7 November 2026, and CU’s early bird scholarship showed no end date. Treat both as a snapshot.

If a page promises outcomes that sound too certain, such as a guaranteed manager role or a fixed salary jump, ask for the evidence before letting it shape your decision.

Not sure whether supply chain, operations or a combined track fits your work? Share your graduation marks, your current role and the part of the supply chain you work in, and an admission advisor can help you shortlist universities whose subjects match and request their current syllabi and written fee schedules.

How GetOnlineDegree.in Helps

We compare online programmes from UGC-DEB listed partner universities using their official pages, so you can see subjects, fees and eligibility side by side instead of piecing them together from marketing material. For a supply chain specialization, we can help you work out which universities run a dedicated track and which only offer it inside operations, request the syllabus where it is not published, and confirm the DEB listing for your session. The decision stays with you; our role is to make sure it rests on official information.

Conclusion

An online MBA in supply chain management is a standard two-year MBA with a logistics and supply chain second year. Among our partners, UPES, CU, LPU and GLA run a named track, ARKA JAIN and NMIMS combine it with operations, and Amity offers supply chain only as one operations subject. UPES has the deepest logistics list, ARKA JAIN the most balanced, and CU the only one built around last-mile and quick commerce. Fees on 6 November 2026 ran from about ₹1 lakh at GLA and ARKA JAIN to ₹2.33 lakh list at CU, and ₹4 lakh or more for NMIMS’s working executive route.

Pick the track whose subjects match the part of the supply chain you work in, and choose operations instead if your work happens inside the plant rather than between companies. Whatever you choose, confirm the UGC-DEB listing and get the fee schedule in writing before you pay.

FAQs

Which universities offer an online MBA in supply chain management in India?

Among our partners checked on 6 November 2026, LPU, Chandigarh University, UPES and GLA offer a named logistics or supply chain track. ARKA JAIN offers Operations and Supply Chain Management, and NMIMS offers it through its MBA Working Executive. Amity lists Supply Chain Management only as a subject inside Production and Operations Management.

What subjects are taught in an online MBA in logistics and supply chain management?

Common subjects include procurement and supplier management, inventory management, logistics and distribution, warehouse management, demand forecasting, global supply chain management, lean supply chain and supply chain analytics. UPES lists six supply chain subjects, and CU adds last-mile and quick commerce operations. The first year covers the standard MBA core at every university.

How much does an online MBA in supply chain management cost?

On 6 November 2026, official pages showed ₹97,000 tuition at GLA, ₹25,000 per semester at ARKA JAIN, ₹40,400 per semester at LPU after its grant, ₹1,75,125 at CU after its early bird scholarship and ₹4,00,000 one-time for NMIMS’s working executive route. UPES showed only an EMI figure, so ask for its full fee schedule.

Is supply chain management different from operations management in an MBA?

Yes. Supply chain management covers the flow of goods between companies: suppliers, warehouses, transport and customers. Operations management covers processes inside one organisation, such as production planning, quality and capacity. The two overlap on inventory and quality, which is why ARKA JAIN and NMIMS offer combined tracks.

Can I do a supply chain MBA online while working full time?

Yes, that is who most of these programmes are built for. Classes and study material are online, and exams are technology-enabled or proctored under the UGC regulations. LPU recommends 8 to 10 hours of study a week. NMIMS’s working executive version requires three years of work experience before you apply.
